This weekend was another pretty laid back one. It started out Friday night with a special Utah Cyber Slut bingo with proceeds going to The Glory to God American Catholic Church in Ogden, which is a "sacramental, liturgical church with a strong respect for tradition" however it's not the same as the traditional "Roman Catholic" as in they accept just about everyone-and their priests are gay. There was even a female priest.
It was interesting to learn a little about them, and while I'm not really religious (spiritual, but not religious) it was still fascinating to see a different spin on that belief structure. They also do a lot for the community, and sadly not too many people showed up-though planning it for Memorial Day weekend was a bad idea. Here are some of the Cyber Sluts in attendance:
Since there weren't very many people we were able to participate in playing, and I won a St. Francis statue. Sadly I broke the little birdie off getting him in the car-I'm probably going to hell for it (haha). Oh well, super-glue to the rescue. I also bought this awesome art print from a guy who was selling them there (with 30% of the proceeds going to the church as well) who wrote a book with these illustrations.
The piece I bought is all about internal reflection. In the story Starkid, the main character, has just broken a mirror and now sees himself as not one person, but as multiple facets in all the bits and pieces of the mirror. In the picture he's holding a small piece of the mirror and reflecting on his contribution to the world.
Saturday morning we met up with Jon, Meggy, Julie, and Deuce for Meggy's surprise early birthday breakfast at Pierre Country Bakery-which is a favorite of ours. Then after we went in search of some new shoes for Josh, who didn't buy any-but I ended up with a cute pair of wedges. Then we walked through the Hidden Hollow area in Sugarhouse and I was surprised to find that the river there was filled with Koi!
Sunday morning we made the trek down to Utah County again for Popeye's Chicken. It just opened up here and my roommate is addicted already-it's so good though. Bad for my diet, which I've been neglecting, but good! Then Sunday evening the roommate was volunteering so I had the house to myself. I had ever intention of cleaning but I ended up just organizing my nail polish... Um, I now have 152 bottles and I know there are at least 9 on the way to me... Um, here's my last few weeks of new polish, and my entire collection.
I also started working on some new watercolor illustrations last night. After posting on IG and Facebook it looks like people are super interested in them so I'm going to make more! :D Yay! I'm hoping to have some of these in my shop by the end of the month, if you have any special requests for colors/bottles let me know! Painting again really makes me happy.
How was your weekend?
