Richard Mayhew is a plain man with a good heart - and an ordinary life that is changed forever on a day he stops to help a girl he finds bleeding on a London sidewalk. From that moment forward he is propelled into a world he never dreamed existed - a dark subculture flourishing in abandoned subway stations and sewer tunnels below the city - a world far stranger and more dangerous than the only one he has ever known...
What I Thought:
Neverwhere was one of the best books I've read. The imagery was strong, the characters were complex and creative, and the storytelling was honestly what I'd deem "epic" even though that word gets overused sometimes.
I was so sucked into this book, that when I wasn't reading it I was thinking about reading it, and wondering how my characters were doing. Major kudos to Neil Gaiman for getting my brain so utterly addicted to this tale that I'm feeling withdrawals now that it has ended. I seriously give this book 5 stars-and would recommend it to anyone who loves being sucked in to a different and creative world!
Huge thanks to Beth for sending me this book!

This book is going on my list of buy soon...I really thought I had it somewhere, but can't find it. SIGH.
ReplyDeleteI love this book so, so much. You need to rent the BBC mini series....it's so flipping great! I think it's a fantastic adaptation. It was on Netflix, but I don't know if it's still there or not.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up to Literary Friday!

runs to add it to my list
