My New Years eve was pretty cool. We originally had planned a big party, but when only 4 people RSVP-ed we decided it wasn't worth it and canceled. So Josh, Julie, and I headed to Taqueria 27 (seriously our favorite new restaurant-all local and/or sustainable options on the menu and so tasty) to get tacos and beer-and then we met up with Jon & Meggy at a local bar (which gave us pretty tiaras) for live music and more beer.

Since it was a cover band we were singing along with them, and totally getting into some lip-sync for your life action at our table. We annoyed the table next to us, but they were some of the douche-y-est people we've ever had to sit by-giving us dirty looks and being generally rude to everyone-so we didn't mind.

Around 11pm Jon and Meggy decided they were too old for the noisy bar, and I was really not feeling well so we headed home and ended up playing pantsless Rock Band and opening a bottle of my fancy almond champagne I'd brought home from California and had been saving. It was much sweeter than I remember having it when I was living there.

That night I traded numbers with a guy I met on match.com around 11:30PM and we stayed up texting each other and having a really deep conversation until about 4:00AM. Since then we've been talking to each other for hours every day and had some pretty great conversations. We'll see where this goes.

That because I've been staying up well into the early hours of morning texting this new guy I haven't felt awake enough (after 5 or less hours of sleep) to get up and work out-I need to find some kind of healthy balance between talking to him and sleeping! But for now... He thinks I'm pretty-and I'm excited for possibility.

I'm ready to be a redhead again, so I've gone more read and will probably go just a little more red than this next time too! Also, I'm still obsessed with this scarf that Jessica sent me...

I am dying to go home and finish reorganizing my room so I can put together my brand new art table. Last Friday Josh, Jon, Max, and I made the trip to IKEA and I spent all of my Christmas money on a nice wood table-but now I have to reorganize my room to fit it in there! Since there were four of us and my car is small, two of them had to sit with my table on their lap! I have such amazing friends!

My fish has been sick. He's floating on his side at the top of the tank, but when you talk to him or poke him he swims around and acts like normal-it's just when he's resting. When I googled this I found out it means he may be backed up and not to feed him for a 24-48 hours... I went a little longer than that and it still hasn't helped, so I couldn't not feed him anymore he was getting upset with me.

It's soooo cold here and has been below freezing all week! Right now it's -8 here at work (according to my app) and the inversion has been crazy! I have to have a scarf at all times because I simply cannot breathe outside right now. Also my windshield wiper fluid froze on my windshield last night...

Check out Shane's link-up here too!

I confess that I want to go back to being a redhead, too. I may very well make that happen this weekend.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a good time for New Year's. Almond champagne sound so yummy.
Thanks for linking up with Friday Confessional. Have a fabulous weekend.
Sounds like you had a really fun New Years.
ReplyDeleteI'm offically not complaining about the cold here any more. Living in Texas has totally made me a wimp when it comes to cold weather. Although, part of me prefers it to the crazy heat.
Hope your fish gets better!
Our fish used to get sick a lot - knock on wood- she's been healthy for the last year. It's hard with a fish, knowing how much effort to put into getting them healthy, because they are your pet and, well, it's a fish.
ReplyDeleteI used to live in SLC, and wow, I do NOT miss the inversions.
Recently came across your blog and really like it!

Thanks for joining the hop! I see you are doing a reading challenge this year. I did one in 2012 and totally fell in love with reading again. I hope you have the same success!
ReplyDeleteI'm tired of winter already, LOL! Your hair has a lot of natural red in it, doesn't it? You have that peaches and cream complexion many redheads are born with. I sometimes enhance the red in my hair, but it's been so hard for me to maintain it!

So glad you still love your scarf & that it's coming in handy, too! I cannot imagine having to deal with -8 degree weather! That's insane! I can barely handle the 30 degrees we've been getting here.
ReplyDeleteExcited to hear more about the new guy..don't be in a rush..and get some sleep girl! Have a great weekend!
Your NYE get together sounds really nice. I hope everything will be good with that guy, good luck!
ReplyDeleteI like the "dedication" theme for this year, sometimes we forget about ourselves in this crazy world but we should really be what counts.
I came here through Liz' Blog Hop and I will read a bit more from you, I really like it here ;-)
YIKES that's cold! Goodness gracious.
ReplyDeleteNow get some sleep, so you can be rested enough to workout and work without getting sick. New attraction is always exciting and fun, but it'll still be there in the morning. :P
And congrats on having a fun NYE, despite douchecanoes at the table next to you (honestly, people who are passive aggressive about their annoyance just encourage me to be louder and ruder- if you have a problem, SAY something or go away).
I can't wait to see the red! (I'm going blonde again soon, myself)
I confess my NYE was lame since I was in bed by 9.30pm............
ReplyDeleteI also confess that it would be cool to be a redhead again........haven't gone read in months.......lol
I do like to change my hair colour often........well I like to cover the grey.......lol
Boo to cold weather. Yay to a great New Year's welcome!!! :D And I'm secretly hoping the Match.com guy turns out to be a real winner!
ReplyDeletewhew you got cooler than we did, we have been sitting at 10-15 at night ;)
ReplyDeleteI do not miss the cold AT ALL.
ReplyDeleteI was going to suggest what you already did for your fish. My roommate had a similar problem. I think the not feeding didn't fix the issue, so she ended up getting some drops to put in the tank, but I don't know what they were. I can find out for you.
