Mini Road Trip & Alanis

Monday morning Josh and I hopped in the car and took off on a mini road trip to Boise.  The purpose for this trip was that it is the closest venue hosting Alanis Morissette and her Guardian Angel Tour-and we had to see her!

So Monday morning we got up and hit the road.  We made a quick stop to pick up a few snacky bits and breakfast/coffee, and then another quick stop to visit with his mother in Tremonton.  Idaho is a pretty flat and boring drive...

We hit Boise about 5:30 pm, checked into our hotel, and went in search of the concert venue in order to pick up our tickets at Will Call.  We then went to grab some dinner at Bar Gernika, which serves Basque food and was amazing. Best Lamb I've ever had.  Also, I really enjoyed the Croquettas.

The concert was at the Knitting Factory, which was an awesome and intimate venue.  We were so very close to the stage!

We kept wondering who was going to be the opening number for her, since it wasn't on the tickets, and found out that it was her handsome husband MC Souleye.  He was really good, and all of his lyrics were super positive!  I really enjoyed him! I took a little video of him below-I think I'm going to download his album.

Then we waited a bit and finally Alanis came on stage!  We were soooo close, and she puts on a really good and emotionally touching show.  It was breathtaking to be there-and she's amazing! Also the feeling of the crowd coming together and singing along-you feel so connected to this room full of people.  Such a great experience!

I recorded a few of her songs.  Here is All I Really Want-Live in Boise 2012 recorded from my phone:

It was amazing, and we even made new friends in the crowd with this girl Witney and her mom.  They were a great time!  And I bought this shirt (right):

Tuesday morning we got up and went to breakfast at a little place called Le Cafe de Paris.  I had a Croque Madame and fresh fruit, and it was amazing!

Then we wandered Boise and checked out the Basque Museum and then the Discovery Center of Idaho where we played with science projects and walked through their Bodies Revealed display.

On the way home we also found this amazing Gorge in Twin Falls.  It was interesting to find something so pretty among the vast blandness that was the drive.  I love the Panorama feature on my phone!

This weekend was also the Howl-O-Ween Event I worked so hard on.
Pictures of that will come in another post soon! :)

  2. What a great trip! Alanis is such an emotive singer, I imagine she can rock a smaller venue like that pretty well. And also, Basque food rocks (especially their cheeeeese). :)

I'm glad you had a great time!
