How to Add a "Pin it" Button with Pin Count

How to add a Pinterest Pin It Button to your posts DIY Tutorial

We all know just how big a roll Social Media plays in people finding the things we write about.  Pinterest has become such a huge deal (and addiction for many) in the world of Social Media and finding things.  If you're anything like me, you almost think to check Pinterest before googling something these days...

Most of us Pinterest addicts have the Pin It button up in our toolbar already, but what about those people who haven't installed it?  How do we make our posts (such as DIY, tutorials, recipes, etc.) more easily pinable by your average blog reader?

Pinterest actually has it's own Goodies page where you can go and create a Pin it button that is specific to your post.  The Goodies page can be found at http://pinterest.com/about/goodies/.

Here you can put the URL for the specific post you want the button on, the URL for the photo you want people to pin (for example, I chose the one that had the DIY title on it-so it's better to search in Pinterest), and the Description you want the pin to default to (pinners will be able to change it if they want, but this makes the steps so much quicker for someone who wants to pin the post.)

You can even choose how you want your button to work on that screen by using the drop down:

Once you have all of your information in, you simply copy the code it gives you into the post.  I placed mine directly under the photo they were going to pin-so that it's easy to see.

This way it automatically defaults to this photo, with my description and link associated with it when they click Pin it.

See?  Super easy! Now go have some fun adding a Pin it button to some of your old posts so they can be more easily found! :)
