Typical Thursday morning, and I have two alarms set. One for 6:00AM and one for 6:15AM.
My 6AM alarm went off and instead of hitting snooze I had the feeling that I should just get up. I stood up, looked out the window, and was greeted with the sight of about 15 cop cars parked outside of my house. Not only did they line each side of the street (where other cars aren't parked) but they were parked in the middle too; so nothing can get through.
My first though: Oh no, what did the neighbors downstairs do?

I ran and knocked on the roommate's bedroom door. Did you see all those cop cars?!?! What on earth is happening?
I ran to throw some pants on just as the roommate turned on the news just in time to catch the tail end of a report saying there was a hostage situation and they were asking all residents to stay in their homes unless the police decided to evacuate. I looked out the window in time to see a swat team of about ten men run down the street. WTF? Evacuate? Is there a bomb?!?!

We peaked out the window and watch as swat members hid on our lawn behind the neighbors SUV. That's about the time we decided we probably shouldn't be sitting in the window. The roommate made a pot of coffee, I grabbed a cup and sat down with some toast as we watched the news and waited for an update.

ReplyDeletegood grief i can only imagine waking up to that, i'd be a wreck!
ReplyDeleteOhhhh geez! Quite the exciting morning you had.
ReplyDeleteI love the excitment of trying to find out what is going on, although I of course hope that noone is hurt or in real danger.
I've woken up to ambulances, fire trucks, and police cars on my street but never something like this. Kind of scary, but thankfully everyone involved was fine.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad nobody got hurt but I don't think I've ever had to use that as an excuse to not go to work :0
ReplyDeleteWow- What a thing to wake up to! I have to admit though, I'd be both intrigued and excited. Just stopping by from SITS. Feel free to swing by my spot for a visit sometime :)

Yikes! That's a little scary! Glad you were able to enjoy the excitement of it!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry. I'm totally behind on reading posts and am still getting caught up. But I just read this one and I can't believe it! How crazy. And exciting. And random!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was living in Ogden there was a police raid on a house one day. But it was totally no big deal and they didn't even ask us to stay inside.
