Grim Grinning Ghosts

Happy Halloween!
Halloween is my favorite holiday.
So for Musical Mondays today, I'm going with the Halloween Theme.
What's your favorite Halloween Themed song?
Post about it and link up!

In the spirit of Halloween, this week's song:

Grim Grinning Ghosts
Disney Villians

***

I remember this on the start of a Halloween movie when I was a little kid, and it still reminds me of all of those Halloweens that I loved.  My mother knows how to do Halloween, and her love of it has been passed down to me.

So Happy Halloween, what are you guys listening to to put you in the mood?

P.S. If anyone links up Christmas Music, I will hate you.  Just sayin'... lol

Fun & Easy Halloween Layered Dip

Are you going to a Halloween party and need a fun and easy thing to make?  Maybe it's last minute and you have little time to prep?  I have a great idea for you.  Granted, it'd probably be better if you homemade each of the ingredients, but if you are short on time you can find pretty good store bought solutions that work.

I made this for my work Halloween party.

What you'll need:
  • 1 large can Refried Beans.  I got Kroger brand Mexi style beans for $1.29 a can.
  • 1 can Olives - Kroger brand $1.29 a can.
  • Salsa - 1 container Wholly Salsa $2.50
  • Guacamole - 1 box Wholly Guacamole $2.50
  • 1 container Sour Cream - Kroger brand $1
  • Chips! Don Julio - $1 per bag.
I added a little bit of Cotija cheese.  It was yummy.

Total cost: $9.58
Amount: 2 Plates of Dip.

On two serving dishes, pile on a layer beans, then a layer of cheese (if chosen), a layer of salsa, a layer of guacamole and then it's time for the decoration.

For the Sour Cream, you can use a frosting bag, but for a cheaper easier method you can use plastic bag with a frosting tip in it, or just cut off the corner.  Use it to make a spider web design.

Then use little olives as the spiders. One for the body, and then cut one up into 8 strips for the legs.

Confession: I love my makeup.

I Confess...
I have no motivation for work today.  Everyone is in costume, there are goodies, and my calendar just reminded me that I actually had the day off... Haha-Oh well I guess.  :P

I Confess...
I may or may not have been 20 minutes late for work because my makeup took forever to put on. But I look schmexy.

I Confess...
When it's 10:30pm and someone knocks on your door, you kind of think someone is there to kill you.

I Confess...
I opened the door to find the guy I'm dating (I really need a nickname for him or something) standing there completely unexpected.  My first surprise was quickly followed by being self conscious because I looked grungy-but he didn't seem to care too much.

I Confess...
I was totally making my hat last minute when he showed up.

I Confess...
It may have been a bigger deal to me that he stopped by just to see me than it was him.  He was only there a few minutes, enough to give me a hug and kiss and ask how my day was, and he says "It was nothing. I was in the area." However for me, I've never really had anyone I'm dating go out of their way to just stop by to see how my day was.  It's adorable.  I am in awe.

I Confess...
I think he's really adorable and today I'm missing him.  This is a really weird thing for me to feel-not really used to dating someone and having it be more than a few dates.  I'm liking it, don't get me wrong-just adjusting.  :) So far, he's pretty great.

I Confess...
I made a cute Halloween layered dip for the work party, and it turned out soooo good.  It was easy too.  I'll have to post a recipe soon.

I Confess...
I love this dress.  Love love love.  Though I don't love my face in this pic... haha

What are you confessing today?

In All My 25 Years...

I am 25 years old, and while there are quite a few things I've never done (graduated college, been married, given birth, received flowers from a guy, been skinny, etc.) there are quite a few things I've done.  Some that I'm not proud of, and some that I am infinitely grateful for.  So when Mama Kat prompted us to write about the 22 things we've done, I decided to join in the fun.

1. I have started a blog and seen it through to 506 amazing followers.  Trust me, I'm amazed.  When I first sat down and created My So-Called Chaos in February of 2008 as a place to write out my thoughts and kill time when work was slow-I never imagined it'd come this far.  Now I'm hooked and I can't wait to see it grow and make even more new friends! Hopefully someday I'll make it to a blogging convention.

2. I have helped raise more kids than most people my age, even some with kids.  Not only have I lived with and helped both Matt's and Ken & Kristina's kids, but I was also a nanny for a while too.  These kids are still such a part of my life, even though I don't see them as often, and I hope they always will be.

3. I have had religion, found new religion, and decided on my own religion.  Born and raised in the Mormon/LDS faith, I fond my own path to a sort of Pagan/Wiccan type of belief for a few years at 17.  I loved spending time learning the laws of love and nature while growing and gaining many new friends through it.  While I haven't completely strayed from it now-I consider myself just spiritual but not religious.  I believe in a universe filled with love, and that love is indeed the thing that can fix everything, if only we spread more of it.  Might sound cheesy, but it is what it is.

4. I have won 2 gold medals in high school at State competition and a Scholarship from theatre.  One for my makeup design in the one act interpretation of Electra we put on, and one for my performance in a scene from A Cinderella Waltz.

5. I have moved 14+ times.  10 of which were since I turned 18.  I'm a master packer and mover.

6. I have been to Vegas many times.

7. I have had plastic surgery in Tiajuanna.  Not kidding.  It was just weight loss shots (about half an inch apart from chest to hips all the way around) but it's still an interesting thought.

8.  I have walked the halls of Alcatraz and felt it's history.

9. I have spent a week living on a house boat in Lake Powell.

10. I have attended a fourth of July celebration on an Native American Reservation.  When I was a Nanny I took the kids there for the fireworks and festival.

11.  I've seen the Blue Man Group perform life.  What a show it was!

12. I've been to two different Zombie Walks.  They're so much fun!

13. I've had my heart broken numerous times.  I've also loved a few times.

14. I've been to the Festival of Colors here twice.  Hopefully some day I'll go to India for a real one.

15. I've slept in the back of a van at a truck stop.  Kristi and I both slept there when we drove to Denver overnight.  It was kind of fun actually.

16. I've  been to NYC.  Stood on the Empire State Building, ridden the subway, eaten Hot dogs from a cart in Central Park, been to the MOMA, etc.

17. I've spent the day in Portland.  Wading through homeless people, seeing a real life drag show, touring the underground and eating Voodoo Donuts!

18.  I've had my picture taken by a leather daddy and his two submissives on Castro street.  They were very nice, they stopped and took a picture of us, and let us take one of them!

19. I've had a D/s relationship.  I tried it.  It doesn't work for me.

20. I've been in a real life lighthouse.  We went into the lighthouse at Cape Blanco.

21. I have learned new skills.  Such as Hula hooping, crochet, painting, writing, etc.

22. I have been loved, and loved more than I felt my heart could handle.  It may have never been romantically, but it has always been by people who matter more than I could ever express!

So what have you done in your life so far?

Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes

So much has happened over the last few days I feel like I really need to stop and update the blog.  This seemed to be a weekend of changes for those around me, and these are changes that really affect everyone-in good ways.  It's almost too much to include in one post! But I'll try.

First, I cut and dyed my hair:

It's brown instead of red now, but it still has a good red shimmer to it.  It was called "Iced Chocolate" and I was really nervous about it at first.  Especially since I'd just gotten the hair cut and I didn't trust it before I straightened it... It looked weird at first.  I feel like a new person! Haha!

Also, Jon and Meggy got engaged!

Chinese New Year 2011
Megan and Jon met last October because they were both mutual friends of my roommate originally and ended up hitting it off at a party.  The next day I stuck my nose in and made sure they got each other's numbers, and they started talking and seeing each other.

They took this the day after they got engaged. Cute.
Friday night Jon called me nervous.  He wanted to inform me that he would be proposing to Megan that night and wanted to make sure I thought it was a good plan so that she would like it.  I felt incredibly honored that he chose to include me and talk to me when he was nervous.  So incredibly touched that we're close enough friends he would call me for my opinion and to share the news with me.  I love them both so.

A few hours later he texted us and said "She said yes."  I am so ecstatic for them.

Doug and Julie moved in together.

Awesome picture.

Doug got a job down in SLC so he moved in with Julie in the apartment next to ours.  So we're seeing a lot more of him, and they both seem pretty excited about this new step in their relationship. I'm excited for them, and I hope this pushes them to new and amazing places.  :)

I added lovely things to my Etsy.
Click on the picture to go to the listing.

  • We had Vietnemese Pho.  Julie and I tried Pho with Tripe, Tendon, Fatty Flank, Steak and other goodies.

  • We went to Nightmare on 13th, but I don't have the pictures yet.
  • I got to see the guy I'm dating last night.  He hung out while we watched The Walking Dead, and then we were able to lay there and talk and talk and talk.  We have great conversations-which is very important.
  • I bought a new dresser at IKEA and put it together all by myself.  Which includes the fact that I had to take the whole thing apart once, and then all the drawers apart once to put them back together with boards facing the right way.

  • We had Chicken & Waffles at the Bay Leaf Pub and Grill.
  • We cooked pasta dinner together as a framily.  It was cute.
  • I went thrifting Saturday-I got one pair of adorable plaid heels.
What's going on in your life?
